Allianz France and Assurances du Crédit Mutuel,1 a subsidiary of Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale, are finalizing an agreement on joint property & casualty insurance in the business and agricultural market. This new partnership will be rolled out in early 2023.

By improving the spread of risk, this strategic partnership will maintain the insurability over the long term of business and farming customers, who are especially exposed to new climate-related and other risks, while still giving them access to quality coverage at well-managed prices.

This partnership pays tribute to the excellence of Allianz France and will further boost its acknowledged position in the business and agriculture market.

As a banking and insurance provider for personal customers for 50 years, Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale is also committed to offering comprehensive support to businesses and the farming sector through high-quality property and casualty solutions.

The proliferation of new risks and the unprecedented explosion of climate risk have led to high volatility in the business and agricultural market, making these sectors increasingly difficult to insure. In this environment, maintaining insurability at an economically sustainable cost requires a broader spreading of risk and greater prevention. The partnership between Allianz France and Assurances du Crédit Mutuel is a response to these major challenges.

This partnership will cover multi-risk solutions for business and agriculture, including crop insurance. Combining the technical expertise of Allianz France with the strength of the Crédit Mutuel and CIC branch networks, it will benefit both new and existing customers.

For Assurances du Crédit Mutuel – France’s 10th largest insurer – and the banking networks of Crédit Mutuel2 and CIC – banker to one business in every three – Allianz France’s property & casualty solutions will enhance a strong existing range in personal and professional insurance and meet the specific needs of business and agriculture customers.

*This sep is in line with Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale’s commitment to offer fully inclusive solutions to its members and customers and to become the partner of choice for businesses. It forms part of the groundwork for its new strategic plan, which will be launched at the end of 2023.

Allianz France will be able to reach a greater number of customers in the business and agricultural markets, in line with its strategic objectives. The pooling of risks, combined with these growth prospects, will enable it to enhance insurability (including in cases of high losses) and to step up its investment in ever more innovative and efficient solutions for customers and distribution networks.

This partnership will thus expand and strengthen the existing cooperation between Assurances du Crédit Mutuel and Allianz, which has been in place for more than 30 years, particularly in travel & assistance cover under the Mondial Assistance brand (Allianz Partners).

I welcome this partnership with Assurances du Crédit Mutuel, which is a vote of confidence in the technical excellence of Allianz France in the business and agriculture markets. This partnership will strengthen the solidity and sustainability of these two activities for Allianz France as well as its agents and brokers, all of whom will benefit from the standardized processes, insurance capacity and increased investment that this agreement will create. We are convinced that this type of agreement will help maintain the insurability of business and agricultural risks, which are now facing new pressures, especially as a result of climate change. It will allow us to continue to invest and innovate and so keep on serving our customers and the French economy,” commented Fabien Wathlé, CEO, Allianz France.

With this agreement, Crédit Mutuel affirms its role as a full-service bank and insurance provider by expanding into the business and agricultural markets. Our customers want us to provide protection and solutions in the face of growing risks. We already offer them a full range of services in banking and employee protection insurance. With Allianz France, we will be able offer them a full range of P&C insurance services, too. This will be an essential part of supporting them through the climate transformation and will enable them to face an uncertain world. As banker to one business in every three and the second-largest bank in the farming sector, the Crédit Mutuel and CIC networks will be ready,” said Nicolas Théry, Chairman, Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale and Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Groupe des Assurances du Crédit Mutuel.

Allianz Group and Crédit Mutuel have been partners in Mondial Assistance for over 30 years! This new cooperation will enable Assurances du Crédit Mutuel to supplement its existing property and casualty insurance offerings for business and farming and move further ahead in those segments. This partnership forms part of our strategy of offering full-service insurance cover in all the markets in which our banking networks operate,” added Pierre Reichert, Chairman of the Executive Board, Assurances du Crédit Mutuel.
