Assurances du Crédit Mutuel: innovating for 50 years to build a fairer, more inclusive insurance of the future

Since 1971, Assurances du Crédit Mutuel (ACM) has been offering products and services that help develop the insurance activity of Crédit Mutuel, the inventor of the bank insurance concept. A new television ad in Crédit Mutuel’s “family saga” series showcases ACM’s vision of insurance and the values that the mutual group upholds.

A television ad to promote a vision of insurance based on inclusivity

Operating in the property, personal and life insurance markets, Assurances du Crédit Mutuel has been reinventing itself for 50 years while proudly and resolutely upholding its cooperative values, with the conviction that protection against current and future risks necessarily involves a collective, socially supportive approach.

To mark this anniversary, a new Crédit Mutuel “Family Saga” television ad has been running for the past month, since May 2. It features the father, Hervé, the son, Benjamin, and his wife, Lucie, going through major life changes in which they are systematically supported by Crédit Mutuel’s insurance solutions. The ad highlights the values and convictions that guide Assurances du
Crédit Mutuel’s day-to-day actions: offering policyholders comprehensive protection, with no false promises, to help them achieve their each and every plan.

Protection and innovation in the service of policyholders and savers

A major player in insurance and social protection in France, Assurances du Crédit Mutuel has always strived to provide its 12.8 million policyholders with the products and services best suited to their lifestyles, combining innovation and cooperative values:
  • The Avance Santé card, an exclusive Crédit Mutuel product that enables policyholders to avoid paying healthcare costs upfront (representing a yearly cash advance of more than €0.5 billion).
  • Ongoing dispensation from medical checks, an exclusive scheme that enables any borrower with an existing Assurances du Crédit Mutuel home loan policy to insure a future home loan for a new primary residence without additional medical formalities and to benefit from coverage under the same conditions. More than 1.3 million customers already benefit from this scheme, including more than 200,000 who have been able to reborrow with no medical formalities.
  • E-claims makes it easier to file car, home or health claims online or on a smartphone (more than a million e-claims are made every year in all categories).

In 2020, Assurances du Crédit Mutuel introduced substantial support measures to help policyholders and savers faced with the consequences of the health crisis. To maintain the cash flow of companies most affected by the economic slowdown, as from March ACM deferred premium payments for all its independent, professional, corporate and non-profit customers. It also contributed to the solidarity fund set up by the public authorities and paid out “cooperative recovery payments”, a no-strings-attached support measure for nearly 27,000 small trader, retailer and independent professional policyholders, averaging €7,000 a payment. In 2020, Assurances du Crédit Mutuel also decided to keep the interest rates unchanged on 2019 income on euro-denominated funds of life insurance policies.

For Pierre Reichert, Chairman of Assurances du Crédit Mutuel’s executive board: “The actions and choices that Assurances du Crédit Mutuel has made over the past 50 years have been guided by a resolutely pioneering, innovative and human philosophy. We strive every day to be a source of simplicity and solidarity.”

“Assurances du Crédit Mutuel is celebrating its 50th anniversary 50 years of providing an invaluable service to policyholders and savers, a service reinforced since the start of the pandemic through the various support measures put in place,” commented Nicolas Théry, Chairman of the supervisory board of Assurances du Crédit Mutuel.

Daniel Baal, Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale and member of ACM’s executive board: “Crédit Mutuel is now a fully fledged bank and a fully fledged insurer. We have significant growth plans across all segments – whether personal, professional or corporate, for providing our customers with a combination of innovative product and service offers and top-level relationship management.”
